What a fun series! We've read several of the Mr. Putter books and have loved them all. (Ages 11, 8, and 7 - and even me, the mom!) I especially love the positive perspective of an older person and his friendship with the older lady next door (absolutely no hint of romance - just good, honest, sweet friendship). Instead of portraying aging and the elderly as a boring time of life, Mr. Putter books show no one is ever too old for an adventure but also sometimes a cup of tea, an English muffin, and a nap are to be enjoyed, too!
Would also make great book series for adult reading classes.

I would personally like to recommend Mr. Putter & Tabby Dance the Dance to all parents. This book is a quality read because the language is specific and clear, and it tells the truth about human experience. In this book it subconsciously teaches your child that you should never be scared to do what it is you want to do, the sky is the limit. It also teaches them how to be open to new experiences because you will never know the outcome. This book shows how you can find happiness through great friendship and joy in experiencing new things.
