Viewed now, it is somewhat unsettling that there's a Michael Jackson song in a children's film. And the movie is called "Free Willy." Anyway, this was part of a herd of animal-related movies in the 80s and 90s, which also included the "Air Bud" series, "Beethoven," "Project X," "Fluke," and "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken." Keiko the whale gives the best performance. I like that Michael Madsen is a nice guy in this, as his previous role was as the psychotic Mr. Blonde. It's very 90s cast also includes Lori Petty, Michael Ironside, and Bubba Gump. Followed by several sequels.

Such a wonderful film with a great conservation message; one that sparked concern for "Willy" (aka Keiko) all over the world. The cast in this film is just wonderful and it's nice to see a family a film that has no violence, swearing, nudity or drug use. Anyone who loves the ocean or animals in general should see this film. It's terrific!
