Add a CommentI first watched this in Spanish class and had to see it again with my family. Brings a very different perspective to the table about immigration and about life south of the border in general. Love it!
Sweet movie that also shows the darker side of illegal immigration: physical danger, abuse, child trafficking, and grinding dead-end jobs. The culture is uniquely Mexican, so you see some macho behavior, a woman being pressured to marry a decent enough guy so she can get a green card, and women in predominantly feminine roles. That said, if you're looking for a older-children, family friendly film that deals well with a timely, emotional issue, this is good and has nuanced characters. The young boy is especially charming. In Spanish with English subtitles.
A very engaging story. Good for practicing spanish. Child actor is so good at his craft. Good for spanish class viewing.
This is a wonderful film to soften up your heart and make you put away any petty prejudices. As different as we may be from one another, we are essentially alike with the same heartbreaks, hopes and dreams.
The acting is real and natural. The child actor, Adrian Alonso, who portrays Carlitos is absolutely adorable.
There's some nice Norteno & Tejano music and you may even pick up a few words of Spanish.
Very sad and nice story. A great example of what most of immigrants life is like.
A fantastic movie!
Adorable. Manages to show the dangers and touch on all areas of illegal immigration without getting ugly or appearing cliche.
This is a fantastic love story about a boy and his mother who live apart. The mother is living in the US and the son lives in Mexico.
After his grandmother dies, Carlito decides to go across the border to try to find his mother. It's a very touching film!
wonderful sweet movie - i spend alot of time in LA - good to see the mexican version of reality
a great, touching film
