Speech Writing Workshop

2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Newark

Description

Up to 75% of adults admit to fear of public speaking, with 20% saying they are terrified of speaking to a group.

Learn with Joe Stoner, Library Manager, how he overcame his fears and how he now thinks public speaking can actually be fun!

Joe will explain how high school age students can compete in the annual Rotary Youth Speech Contest held each spring.  Contestants present a 4-5 minute speech.

There are cash prizes in each round, with the top winner receiving over $4,000.

The theme each year is the Rotary motto, "Service Above Self." Joe thinks the theme is so broad, you can talk about almost any topic and connect it to "Service Above Self."

Registration is recommended but not required.

Library staff may take photos, videos, or audio recordings at our events. Please tell us if you do not wish to be photographed, video-recorded, or audio-recorded. We will always respect your requests!
