Join us for an all-ages workshop with Alameda Native History Project where we will process acorns for our library granary. Drop in throughout the event to learn about cleaning and preparing acorns to store in our library granary.

Acorn Granaries are traditional Native American storage structures used to hold harvested foods and keep them safe from the elements and animals over the winter. Acorns are the most important food stock for California Indigenous People. They are a gift from the Oak Trees; and feed all the animals around, including us.

This is a drop-in program. No registration is needed and participants can stop by throughout the program.

Library staff may take photos, videos, or audio recordings at our events. Please tell us if you do not wish to be photographed, video-recorded, or audio-recorded.

An ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter or closed captioning can be provided for this program if requested at least seven (7) days in advance. For assistance, please contact your library or accessibility@aclibrary.org.
