Book of the Week:

Thanksgiving on Thursday by Mary Pope Osborne

It’s a time for giving thanks when the Magic Tree House whisks Jack and Annie back to 1621 on the first Thanksgiving Day. The Pilgrims ask them to help get things ready. But whether it’s cooking or clamming, Jack and Annie don’t know how to do anything the Pilgrim way. Will they ruin the holiday forever? Or will the feast go on?

This book will be read in two parts on November 13, and 20.

Today, we will read Part 1 together.

About Our Book Club:

Each week, an AAC user hosts our sessions, features an autistic reader, or includes guest readers such as librarians and authors. After each reading, we enjoy an activity or game connected to the book, celebrating representation, creativity, and the many wonderful ways people communicate.

We celebrate all communication—AAC, speech, gestures, expressions—and follow a Floortime-inspired approach that centers on meeting readers where they are and building joyful shared experiences.

When applicable, a visual schedule will be emailed 24 hours before each session, which can be helpful for our readers to follow along.
