Description

In this workshop, we will paint and customize a Burmese paper mache toy called the “Pyit Taing Htang” with local artist Valerie Win Liu. These toys are thought of as symbols that represent resistance and resilience. Come learn about this folk toy and paint and craft one of your own!

Attendance is limited and registration is required to attend this program.

Valerie Win Liu
is an illustrator, designer, and artist from & based in the San Francisco Bay Area. They’ve collaborated and worked with clients such as The San Francisco Public Library, HopeLab, the Emergency Medicine Foundation, Stanford School of Medicine, The Chinese Culture Center and more—to create illustrations, editorial work, murals and designs to be incorporated into their projects. Valerie likes to work with a variety of mediums: paint, mixed media, sculpture, upcycled materials, digital art, comics, and more. In their work, They like to explore themes such as Joy, Queerness, Humor, Curiosity, and Discovering ways to encourage/spotlight self expression.
