Join us for this very special occasion of Coffee & Creativity at the San Lorenzo Library to celebrate Juneteenth!
Textile artist Candace Peters will be facilitating this hands-on quilting workshop! She will discuss the long history African Americans have with hand sewing, quilting, and mending. Hand stitching has long been used to create, repair, and embellish. Quilting in particular has been a staple of African American communities to provide warmth, comfort, and build connections. The practice of making new things from old fabric was an oft used practice dating back through slavery. This workshop will offer an opportunity to gather, share stories, and explore hand stitching fabric scraps into something new. Let's have fun together, no experience necessary.
Morning beverages and snacks will be provided.
Registration is required for this event.
