Sitting is the new smoking as believed by many. The “Fitness at Fremont Main” series aims to get everyone movin' by trying out different exercises.
In December, we feature a unique workout for body, mind and soul--Shaolin Kung Fu Chan, the integration of martial arts and Zen Buddhism.
How can kung fu (martial arts) be combined with Zen (Chan) Buddhism? How is it possible?
Shaolin Kung Fu Chan does just that. It originated from a centuries-old ancient temple in China—Shaolin Temple. Shaolin Temple was built in AD 495 and is the birthplace of both Zen (Chan) Buddhism and kung fu (martial arts). For over 1500 years, kung fu meets Zen (Chan) at this ancient monastery as a lifestyle that evolved into a holistic system for physical and spiritual wellness.
This age-old Shaolin Temple now has local presence. Shaolin Temple USA opened its door in Fremont in 2007 to share the wonders and health benefits of Shaolin Kung Fu Chan (Zen) with the American people.
Come enjoy a demo of kung fu prowess and experience Shaolin Kung Fu Chan through wellness qigong and meditation for a body, mind and soul workout!
Don't forget to wear comfortable clothes and bring a towel and water.
