Pride on TV: Then and Now

5:30 PM – 7:00 PM

Description

Growing up in a straight community/world, often our first glimpse of queer life is what we are presented on TV. From Jack Tripper and Jodie Dallas in the 80’s to Will & Grace and Ellen in the 90’s, these characters were for many people the first portrayal of what it meant to be LGBTQIA+. But were they accurate? How did these characters shape your perception of the LGBTQIA+ community? Were the portrayals mostly negative or could they sometimes be positive? What other TV shows/characters do you remember watching growing up?

Bring your favorite memories, good or even not so good, and join us as we discuss LGBTQIA+ representation through the medium of TV.
